The University of Baghdad welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies, led by Dr. Farhan Nizami, the Center’s Director, along with two faculty members. A meeting took place between the University of Baghdad and the Oxford Center, with the University’s President heading the delegation. Attendees included the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, the Director of the Center for Women’s Studies, and the Director of the Department of Quality Assurance and Academic Performance at the university.
During the meeting, both parties discussed various topics, including the enrollment of Iraqi students at Oxford University, fostering research collaborations in the field of Islamic studies, and involving the Center’s teachers as members of the editorial board for several university journals. The President of the University of Baghdad expressed the importance of future cooperation, highlighting the preparation of students for admission to Oxford University, contributions to the Oxford Series of Islamic Sciences, and potential collaborations in postgraduate studies, scientific research, and hosting Iraqi professors at the Oxford Center for Islamic Studies.
Dr. Nizami expressed his pleasure in visiting Baghdad for the first time, recognizing the city’s significant cultural importance and its historical contributions to world civilization. He expressed hope that their collaboration would benefit from Baghdad’s rich heritage and cultural influence, emphasizing its continued role in shaping the future.
