Professor Dr. Ni’ma Dahish Farhan, Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad, participated in the proceedings of the Second International Scientific Conference organized by Al-Imam Al-Kadhim College for Islamic Sciences under the patronage of His Excellency the Head of the Shiite Endowment Diwan
, Dr. Haider Hassan Jaleel Al-Shammari, and under the slogan ‘Contemporary Arabic: Beginnings, Paths, and Transformations.’
Dr. Farhan’s participation was with a scholarly research paper titled ‘The Arabic Language and Globalization… A Proposed Vision for the Organization of Lexical Policy.’ In his paper, he discussed the challenges facing the Arabic language in light of the accelerating waves of globalization and presented a proposed scientific vision aimed at establishing a unified Arabic lexical policy that keeps pace with contemporary technical and cognitive developments and enhances the presence of the Arabic language in the global cultural and scientific scene.
In his research, Dr. Farhan emphasized that attention to the Arabic dictionary/lexicon and the unification of linguistic and institutional efforts represent a fundamental pillar for protecting the linguistic identity of the nation. He called for the establishment of joint Arab bodies concerned with linguistic and lexical planning, which would contribute to the development and sustainability of the Arabic language in the era of digital and global transformation.
The participation of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad garnered significant attention from the academic and research attendees for the deep analytical insights and practical, rigorous proposals contained in the research, which could contribute to strengthening the position of Arabic and its adaptation to global changes.
