The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Department of Islamic Civilization and Antiquities, organized a scientific workshop entitled (Empowerment of Women in the Education Aspect) under the custody of Prof. Dr. Nima Dahash Farhan, Dean of the College.
This workshop, in which Dr. Rahim Farhan Saddam and Dr. Raghad Jamal lectured, aimed at the importance of education and empowerment for women and girls, their usefulness in sustainable development for women and girls, and the role women play in education and advancement.
The workshop dealt with the historical and social factors that contributed to the impact on the role of women, strength and weakness, in an attempt to understand reality, confront its problems, and find solutions that are commensurate with this reality. The role that women and girls play in the development process is a complex phenomenon, which is the result of a number of social factors and political, economic and cultural conditions for this role, in an attempt from the reality of theory and abstraction to the reality of implementation and application.
The lecturers recommended education because it is important for women and girls. The field study showed that women and girls have the desire to learn and continue education, and fair equality between men and women, girls and boys leads to encouraging and empowering women and developing their abilities mentally, intellectually and socially. The media has an effective role in the development of women, so it must do that role. We must eliminate violence against women. From theoretical and field studies, we find that educating society about women’s rights has a significant impact on their development.
