Prof. Dr. Khalil Hassan Al-Zarkani, Head of the Department of Islamic Civilization at the College of Islamic Sciences in the University of Baghdad, has received the acceptance to publish a joint research document with has master’s student, Kafi Mohsen Mahal, entitled “The Problem of Extremist Religious Discourse” in the French Journal of Res Militaris indexed in Scopus /Q3.)
The research has dealt with the important means that can be used to eliminate the extremist religious discourse and the effective ways to eliminate this problem and what are the bases for its treatment. It also seeks to highlight the importance of moderate religious discourse and dialogue and the rejection of the extremist discourse that renews the crises and wounds of history. And that is through the means and efforts exerted, namely changing the extremist religious discourse to a moderate religious one, as well as inviting religious figures, whether they are followers of Judaism, Christianity or Islam, to search for a common ground for understanding and coexistence, because extremism in the name of God is an enemy to all and not to countries or religions in particular. The necessity of confronting terroristic threats by making more efforts to resolve the conflicts that attract the forces of extremism in the world to drain their sources and studying the problem of religious violence in the world by re-reading and rejecting religious texts. Misunderstanding of the text should be avoided, and rejecting any confusion between extremism and religion is sought.
