In response to the disrespect towards the Holy Quran, the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop on the sanctity of the Quran. This initiative came under the direct guidance of the University of Baghdad’s President, Professor Munir Al-Saadi, and was overseen by Professor Naama Dhiab Farhan, the Dean of the College. The workshop, held today on Wednesday, witnessed the presence of President Al-Saadi and several university officials, along with religious and academic figures.

The workshop, led by Professor Haider Zamil, encompassed four key topics. The first topic delved into the sanctity of the Quran, its form and content, presented by Professor Mahnd Mohammed Saleh Al-Hamdani. The second topic explored historical attempts to undermine the sanctity of the Quran, presented by Professor Khaleel Hassan Al-Zarkani. Meanwhile, the third topic analyzed the reasons and factors behind challenging the sanctity of the Quran, presented by Dr. Arkan Raheem Jabbar. Finally, the last topic examined the Quran’s role in the Western context, focusing on an objective study, presented by Dr. Haleem Abbas Al-Fatlawi.

During his remarks on the disrespect towards the Holy Quran, Dr. Al-Saadi emphasized the need for reflection and contemplation of the Quran. He also called for a focus on the scientific predictions mentioned in the Quran, which have been discovered in the age of technological advancement. The workshop’s speakers recommended the organization of an international Islamic scientific conference, sponsored by the University of Baghdad, to discuss scientific discoveries in the Quran. They highlighted the importance of safeguarding university students’ minds from deviant behaviors such as atheism, drug addiction, sexual deviation, and same-sex marriage. This can be achieved through integrating Quranic concepts into the academic curriculum, conducting lectures, seminars, workshops, and advocating reflection on the Quran and the discovery of its scientific truths. Furthermore, they called for the criminalization of disrespecting human sanctities and divine books.”
