The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a workshop on selecting reputable journals and identifying fake ones as part of a program to enhance research skills for graduate students. The workshop, presented by Professor Dr. Rafid Sabah, aimed to familiarize students with the importance of choosing reputable journals for publishing their research and how to distinguish them from fake journals that proliferate online.
During the workshop, the lecturer provided a detailed explanation of the criteria for evaluating scientific journals, such as the Impact Factor and other indices like Scopus and Google Scholar. Practical tips were also given to students on how to search for appropriate journals to publish their research, and how to verify their authenticity and credibility. This workshop is considered one of the most important events organized by the College of Islamic Sciences to enhance the research skills of graduate students.
With the increasing number of scientific journals published online, it has become challenging for researchers to distinguish reputable journals from fake ones. This workshop helps students make informed decisions regarding the selection of journals for publishing their research, thus contributing to improving the quality of their research and increasing the chances of publication in prestigious journals.
The workshop received active participation from graduate students, who raised questions about how to choose appropriate journals for their research fields and how to deal with fake journals that contact them via email. This workshop is part of the efforts of the College of Islamic Sciences to develop the scientific research skills of its students, improve the quality of their research, and enhance the university’s status in the scientific field.
