The Unit of Scientific Affairs at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Department of Labor and Vocational Training, organized a workshop entitled “Regular Migration, the Dangers of Irregular Migration, and Support for Returnees from Abroad” at Al-Zahra Hall.

The workshop, conducted by Ms. Suhaila Rashid, the Director of the Labor Resources and Workers’ Migration Center, aimed to familiarize participants with the migration systems endorsed by international organizations. It also aimed to provide ideas that support the aspirations of young individuals and leverage the opportunities offered by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. These initiatives are designed to enhance the skills of youth in line with the demands of the job market.

 

The workshop included an introduction to migration and its dimensions, as well as a legal definition of academic qualifications. It also introduced various migration-related terms such as migrants, types of migration, asylum seekers, refugees, and the risks associated with irregular migration, including human trafficking and others.

Ms. Rashid emphasized the importance of providing support for returning migrants from abroad, whether it be in the form of economic or psychological assistance. She stressed the need to build their capacities through training courses and the development of essential skills.
