The College of Islamic Sciences at Baghdad University, in cooperation with the student volunteer teams of the Arabic Language Department, organized an intensive awareness campaign under the slogan “A beautiful life without poisons”. The campaign aims to spread awareness among students about the dangers of drugs and their destructive effects on the individual and society.
The campaign was accompanied by a scientific research entitled “The Psychological and Educational Effects of Drugs on University Students” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Helou Hawass and M.M. Sally Mohammed Abdul. The research provides an in-depth study on the dangers of drug use on university students from a psychological and educational point of view, highlighting the factors that push students to use drugs, and the serious consequences that result from this.
The campaign included several events, including: Educational lectures on the dangers of drug use, its types, symptoms, and ways to prevent it; artistic and cultural events aimed at spreading awareness about the dangers of drugs in a creative and attractive way; and the distribution of brochures and folders containing information about the dangers of drugs and ways to prevent them.
The student volunteer teams of the Arabic Language Department played a key role in the success of this campaign. Students participated in organizing events, distributing awareness materials, and communicating with other students to urge them to participate in the campaign.
Dr. Alaa Al Mandalawi, supervisor of the student volunteer teams at the College of Islamic Sciences, stressed the importance of this campaign in spreading awareness among students about the dangers of drugs. He pointed out that these teams are established in accordance with the directives of the university and the ministry, and that they play an important role in promoting positive values among students and encouraging them to participate in community service.
