The conference on “The Risks and Challenges of Drug and Psychoactive Substance Abuse,” organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in collaboration with Al-Iraqia Foundation for Culture and Development, the Arab Forum for Women Studies and Training, and the Arab Trainers’ Union, featured a notable participation from the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad.
Representing the college were Professor Dr. Ali Helou Hawas and Dr. Alaa Abdel-Khaliq Al-Mandlawi, who presented a paper titled “Drugs: Risks and Negative Effects on the Educational and Psychological Processes.”
The paper addressed the dangers of drug and psychoactive substance abuse on individuals and society. It discussed the negative impacts of drugs on educational and psychological processes, emphasizing the crucial role of educational institutions and families in drug prevention.
The research received significant attention from attendees and was praised by conference participants. Dr. Al-Mandlawi highlighted the importance of intensifying efforts to combat drug abuse, stressing the role of educational institutions and families in preventing this dangerous epidemic. Dr. Hawas underscored the need for collaborative efforts among all relevant stakeholders to raise awareness about the risks of drugs and enhance rehabilitation and treatment programs for users.
The conference is part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse in Iraq and to increase awareness of its risks and negative effects on individuals and society.
