Dr. Halim Abbas Al-Fatlawi, a faculty member in the Department of Comparative Religions at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Baghdad, participated in the Fifth International Conference, themed “The Intellectual Heritage of Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him): Justice for All, No Injustice to Anyone.” He presented a research paper titled “The Debates of Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and Their Role in Enriching Knowledge and Social Interaction in Establishing Peaceful Coexistence with the Religious Other.”
Dr. Al-Fatlawi’s participation in the conference was distinguished by presenting an analytical scientific research on the doctrinal concepts discussed by Imam Al-Ridha (peace be upon him) and his style in his debates with prominent figures of other religions, including the Sabians, Christians, and Jews. His research impressed the audience with its comprehensive and precise knowledge of the issues discussed by the Imam, highlighting the lofty values in achieving religious justice inherent in Islam and its goal in establishing social justice.
Dr. Al-Fatlawi emphasized in his research the importance of dialogue and debate in promoting awareness, enhancing values and ethics, unifying society, and reducing injustice and oppression. He stressed that dialogue and debate, when conducted with a scientific and purposeful spirit, can be effective tools for building bridges of understanding and cooperation between different religions and cultures.
