The Department of Islamic Belief and Thought at the College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad recently organized a Ramadan competition for students to read Surat Al-Kahf according to the provisions of recitation and intonation.
The jury was formed from an elite group of professors specialized in the sciences of the Holy Qur’an. The competition was attended by the Dean of the College, Dr. Nima Dahesh Farhan, and his administrative assistant, along with many faculty members and students.
Dr. Farhan delivered an orientation speech to the students, praising the importance of the Holy Qur’an in the life of a Muslim and urging them to recite it with proper recitation and intonation. He emphasized the significance of the competition in enhancing students’ skills in reading the Holy Quran and creating an atmosphere of faith during the holy month of Ramadan. The competition is a distinctive initiative of the Department of Islamic Faith at the College of Islamic Sciences, aiming to promote Islamic values and spread the culture of the Holy Qur’an among students. The competition witnessed wide participation from students who competed to demonstrate their mastery of the rules of recitation and intonation, in a faith-spiritual atmosphere.
