The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad paid tribute to the esteemed religious authority and Islamic thinker, Sayed Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr (may his soul be sanctified), on the anniversary of his martyrdom. The memorial ceremony held in Al-Bayt Al-Atyab Hall highlighted Sayed Al-Sadr’s profound intellectual contributions and enduring impact on Islamic scholarship.

The event commenced with recitations from the Holy Quran by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, setting a solemn atmosphere for the attendees. The Assistant Administrative Dean then delivered a lecture praising Sayed Al-Sadr’s (may his soul be sanctified) moral character, principled stances, and advocacy for Islam and the Muslim community. Dr. Karim Dakhel Maher emphasized the widespread influence of Sayed Al-Sadr’s ideas, particularly noting the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education’s adoption of his book “Lessons in Fundamental Science” as a core curriculum for Islamic sciences colleges in Iraq.

Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Professor Dr. Nima Dahesh Farhan, lauded Mr. Al-Sadr’s efforts in promoting knowledge, moderation in Islam, and societal development. The ceremony, attended by a diverse audience of faculty, students, and prominent figures, underscored the college’s commitment to honouring the legacies of Islamic scholars and martyrs who have advanced the causes of freedom and peace
