The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad celebrated National Tree Planting Day, which falls on the twelfth of March every year, by organizing an awareness lecture titled “Tree Planting: An Effective Weapon Against Climate Change.”
The lecture, delivered by both M.Sc. Mahal Mahir and M.Sc. Nawal Qasim, aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tree planting in mitigating the risks of climate change and promoting a culture of tree planting among members of the community.
The lecturers emphasized that tree planting contributes to reducing the phenomenon of global warming, purifying the air, improving quality of life, and supporting biodiversity. Dr. Al-Khatib also discussed the role of each individual in contributing to tree planting campaigns and urged nurturing the younger generation’s love for agriculture and environmental care.
The audience engaged with the lecture, asking several questions about tree planting and its impact on the environment.
This lecture is part of the College of Islamic Sciences’ commitment to raising awareness about the importance of the environment and its preservation, as well as promoting a culture of tree planting among both students and the wider community.
