The concept of sustainable development (social, economic, and environmental dimensions)

Sustainable development is a global economic and social concept formulated by the United Nations, aimed at establishing a framework for environmental, social, and economic development worldwide. The main goal of sustainable development focuses on improving the living conditions of every individual in society, while developing and managing production methods in a way that preserves the natural resources of the planet, ensuring that these resources are not depleted and avoiding overloading the planet beyond its capacity. Sustainable development seeks to meet the needs of current generations without compromising the rights of future generations to benefit from the remaining resources.
Many of the natural resources we use to achieve development in our countries are continuously diminishing, as most of them are non-renewable, such as energy sources, water, and raw materials. Since the Industrial Revolution, the world’s consumption of these resources has doubled, despite the prevailing belief that the Earth has unlimited wealth and inexhaustible energy, a belief that reality has proven to be false.
