[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The College of Islamic Sciences at the University of Baghdad discussed the thesis titled ‘Purposive Ijtihad According to Shari’ah Al-Qadi’ presented by the student Heba Mahmoud Sadiq from the Department of Sharia in the Scholars’ Hall.<\/p>\n

The significance of the research lies in its examination of the subject of the objectives of Islamic law (Maqasid al-Sharia). It elucidates the lofty goals that Islamic jurisprudence aims to achieve, emphasizing the Sharia’s purpose of bringing benefits and preventing harm. The research directs the attention of students of knowledge and researchers towards understanding the essence and comprehensiveness of the textual sources and their purposes. It encourages jurists and scholars to focus on the spirit of the text rather than merely adhering to its apparent meanings or literal interpretations.
\nThe thesis has yielded a set of results and recommendations, among which: The research delves into the realm of jurisprudential reasoning based on the objectives of Sharia in situations that necessitate independent reasoning. The purpose of the legislator in creating human beings is to safeguard their religion, selves, intellects, progeny, and wealth. Each essential aspect of these necessities is encompassed by a set of Sharia rulings aimed at preserving them. There is a disagreement regarding the companionship of Shari’ah Al-Qadi, and it is established that he was a follower (Tabi’i) and not a companion (Sahabi). The narrations about his companionship are weak and not reliable.<\/p>\n

The thesis has been approved with a satisfactory evaluation by the examination committee, which was chaired by Professor Dr. Salah Abdul-Hussein Mehdi, with Dr. Ahmed Aliwi and Dr. Raghad Hassan Ali as members. Dr. Mohammed Jassim served as a member and supervisor. The defense session was attended by Professor Dr. Nama Dhiab Farhan, the Dean of the College, and his administrative assistant, Dr. Arkan Rahim Jabr, to closely follow the academic proceedings.[\/vc_column_text]
